President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has taken decisive action by suspending all programs administered by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) amid an ongoing investigation into alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its programs.
The suspension covers all four programs handled by NSIPA, namely the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and Home Grown School Feeding Programme. This suspension will be in effect for an initial period of six weeks.
President Tinubu has expressed significant concerns regarding operational lapses and improprieties related to payments to the beneficiaries of these programs. To address these issues, he has established a ministerial panel tasked with conducting a thorough review of the agency's operations. The goal is to recommend necessary reforms for NSIPA.
Throughout this suspension period, all NSIPA-related activities, including distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations, are frozen.
President Tinubu assures stakeholders and all Nigerians that his administration remains committed to a swift and unbiased process. The objective is to ensure that, moving forward, social intervention programs will function as intended, providing meaningful benefits to the most vulnerable Nigerians.
