Today, I want to discuss a concerning trend that has been emerging in North African football. It revolves around the unfair tactics employed by some clubs and countries to deliberately disrupt the flight schedules of away teams. Respecting the principles of fair play is paramount in any sport, and football is no exception. It's vital to ensure that teams can compete on a level playing field, as this is fundamental to the integrity of the game. However, it's disheartening to witness the extreme measures some clubs and countries are willing to take to disrupt the preparations of their opponents.

The incident in question was a glaring example of this issue. Enyimba FC had to return to their hotel after waiting for six long hours at the airport, all because they were awaiting a landing permit for a chartered flight from Murtala Muhammed International Airport. This kind of delay can take a significant toll on the physical and mental readiness of the away team and makes a mockery of the principles of fair play.

It is high time for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to intervene and take action against such unsporting behavior. It falls on CAF to enforce strict regulations that prevent these antics from tarnishing the beautiful game. Every team, regardless of their origin or location, deserves an equal chance to showcase their skills and compete fairly on the football pitch.

As football enthusiasts, we must unite and raise our voices to call upon CAF to address this issue promptly.
