In a recent statement, Peter Obi of the Labour Party praised Funke Akindele's hit movie, 'A Tribe Called Judah,' for shedding light on the challenges faced by less-privileged Nigerians. The film rocked the cinemas, making history as the first Nollywood flick to hit a whopping N1 billion in just three weeks.

Obi acknowledged the movie's reflection of the struggles many less-privileged families endure in Nigeria. He celebrated the achievement as a historic moment for the Nigerian movie industry and highlighted Nollywood's role as one of the country's top exports in the last decade.

Peter Obi applauded Funke Akindele for her dedication and passion in the film industry, especially given the success of her previous movies, 'Battle on Buka Street' and 'Omo Ghetto,' ranking second and third in the highest-grossing films at the Nigerian box office.

He urged Nollywood to keep telling stories that inspire hard work, integrity, and productivity among Nigerians, believing it contributes to shaping a more productive nation.

The movie, released on December 15, 2023, has been smashing records, becoming the first to gross over N133 million in its opening weekend, surpassing Akindele's earlier films.

The film, directed by Adeoluwa Owu (Captain Degzy), narrates the comedic tale of a family attempting to rob a mall to fund their mother's hospital bill, only to face armed robbers. Starring notable actors like Nse Ikpe Etim, Timini Egbuson, and Uzor Arukwe, among others, the movie has been a sensation, premiering to a fanfare at Filmhouse Cinema IMAX, Lekki, Lagos, on Sunday, December 10, 2023.
