Abimbola's husband, Ikechukwu, is now facing charges of involuntary manslaughter in court. The Lagos State Government is prosecuting him for his alleged actions. However, Ikechukwu has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
During the court proceedings, a police officer named Olatunji testified that the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) had instructed their team to investigate the case. The AIG wanted Ikechukwu arrested for attempted murder, threat to life, domestic violence, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

The police had planned to transfer the case file and the suspect to the zonal headquarters. However, just two days later, they received devastating news. Abimbola had passed away. The AIG then ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.
During the court hearing, the witness, Olatunji, was cross-examined by the defendant's counsel, Victor Ogunde. Olatunji explained that they did not have a report because their investigation was not yet concluded.

The Lagos State Government has filed a lawsuit against Ikechukwu, accusing him of involuntary manslaughter and causing harm to his wife through a fire incident at their home in Lekki. These alleged offenses go against the Criminal Law of Lagos State. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing domestic violence and seeking help when needed. It is crucial to create a safe environment for everyone and ensure that justice is served.
