A group led by Prof Pat Utomi, the National Consultative Front (NCFront), dismissed rumors of opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, vying for the 2027 presidency. In a statement, the NCFront clarified that the media's portrayal is a ploy to hinder the merger proposal for leading opposition parties.
The NCFront emphasized its commitment to initiating a new political party to counter the perceived "misrule" of the APC. The group is currently engaged in consultations to strengthen opposition forces and rescue Nigeria from the alleged mismanagement and anarchy imposed by the APC-led government.
It also stated that the 2027 agenda rumor is a tactic by detractors to divide the opposition. The NCFront aims to unite opposition forces against the present administration's policies and governance. A Merger Facilitation Group, led by Prof Pat Utomi, is gearing up to convene the inaugural meeting for the merger process of leading opposition parties, aiming to build a major political party to challenge and replace the current APC government.
