In an effort to cultivate a new generation of digitally savvy students armed with 21st-century skills essential for addressing contemporary challenges, Osun State University's Information Management and Technology Centre, in collaboration with Re: learn by CcHUB, orchestrated the "Summer of Code." This initiative aimed to construct a classroom of the future focused on technology for children aged 5-18 years old, incorporating a blend of research and learning projects.
The "Summer of Code" unfolded as a dynamic four-week program designed to introduce children to computer programming. Throughout the sessions, participants, aged 5-18, delved into the creation of games and animations using Scratch, the design of websites using HTML and CSS, and initiation into programming computer apps and electronics. Emphasis was placed not only on technical skills but also on the development of soft skills, particularly in presentation, communication, and project management.
